In addition to an all-volunteer board of directors and support from every member of the choir, Bloomington Chamber Singers is led by several paid staff members.

Artistic Director
The Artistic Director is responsible for the artistic direction of the ensemble, developing each season's concert schedule and overseeing the musical preparation.

For the current 2024-25 season, our Fall and Spring concerts will be led by guest conductors Dr. Carolann Buff and Dr. Betsy Burleigh, respectively, both of the IU Jacobs School of Music Choral Conducting faculty.

Caio Lopes, Assistant Conductor and Accompanist
Caio Lopes is a Brazilian conductor based in Bloomington, Indiana. He currently serves as Associate Adjunct Professor of Music at the University of Indianapolis, where he teaches choral ensembles and advanced choral conducting courses. In addition to UIndy, Caio is Chorus Master of the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, Assistant Conductor and pianist of the Bloomington Chamber Singers, and Music Director of First United Methodist Church in Columbus.

As a graduate student at the I.U. Jacobs School of Music and in his home state of São Paulo, he has worked as director, chorus master, and pianist for choral ensembles, musical theater, and opera programs, and in a Brazilian music education program for disadvantaged youth. Caio is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Music degree at I.U. Jacobs School, where he also earned his Master of Music degree in choral conducting. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in conducting from São Paulo State University in Brazil.

Board of Directors
BCS is governed by a Board of Directors, elected by the members. The President is the Chief Executive Officer of the corporation and works closely with the Music Director in managing the activities of the group. Typically our singers compose the Board, although occasionally a member is drawn from the larger community.
