I hope this message finds you in good health. Because you are a special part of our musical community, we wanted to keep you posted on the latest news from BCS. Our rehearsals and performances have been postponed until it is safe to gather again. Experiencing choral music with others can be powerful and healing. We truly look forward to when we will be able to share this wonderful music with you again.
Led by musical director Gerald Sousa, our board of directors and musical staff are working hard to manage our finances and plan for the future, while adjusting to a new reality and some unknowns.
In the meantime, we invite you to keep the spirit of the Bloomington Chamber Singers vibrant and connect you with the choral community you’ve helped us create. Considering Matthew Shepard – postponed
Working on this remarkable “fusion oratorio” by Craig Hella Johnson has truly transformed our chorus this semester. We are planning to reschedule it for later this year at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. Combining a breadth of musical styles such as chant, country, choral, aria, folk, and theater movements, this “fusion oratorio” is a musical journey about Matthew Shepard’s life and death, and the continuing impact of his story on our country. The performance will be a semi-dramatic experience. It is our message of hope and inspiration to you and our entire community. With its appeal to a more diverse spectrum than we’ve ever reached before, we look forward to welcoming in new listeners and touching new hearts.
